Pipette Repair and Maintenance Services in the Bay Area

Multichannel pipette undergoing calibration and repair service

Pipette Repair

A pipette that leaks, sticks, or drifts out of tolerance puts your data at risk. Valley Calibration Services, Inc. repairs all makes and models of pipettes at our A2LA-accredited ISO/IEC 17025 lab in Union City, CA. Every repaired pipette is calibrated before it goes back to you, so you get a working instrument with the documentation to prove it.

Our Pipette Repair Process

Inspection and Diagnosis

We inspect each pipette and document its condition. Where your quality system requires it, we record as-found data before any work begins. If a repair needs parts beyond standard seals and O-rings, we quote them and wait for your approval before going ahead.

Cleaning and Decontamination

We disassemble the pipette, then clean and decontaminate it inside and out.

Seal and O-Ring Replacement

We replace worn seals and O-rings, the most common cause of leaks and volume errors.

Piston Cleaning or Replacement

We clean and inspect pistons for scratches, corrosion, or bends, and replace damaged pistons in-house.

Lubrication and Reassembly

We lubricate moving parts as the manufacturer specifies, reassemble the pipette, and check plunger action, tip fit, and tip ejection.

Post-Repair Calibration with As-Left Data

Every repaired pipette is calibrated gravimetrically in our accredited lab. You receive a calibration label and a certificate with as-left results, so the pipette can go straight back into service. Learn more about our pipette calibration services.

Preventive Pipette Maintenance Plans

Regular maintenance costs less than emergency repairs and lost data. Our Pipette Performance Plans schedule cleaning, seal and O-ring servicing, and calibration at an interval suited to your usage and quality system, typically every 6 to 12 months, or every 3 to 6 months for heavily used or GLP/GMP pipettes. Each plan includes seals, O-rings, and tip holders.

Brands We Repair

We repair all makes and models, including Rainin, Eppendorf, Gilson, Thermo Fisher Scientific (Finnpipette), Integra, Sartorius and Biohit, VWR, BrandTech, Socorex, Drummond, Hamilton, Nichiryo, and more. That covers single-channel, multichannel, and electronic pipettes.

Repair Turnaround and Service Options

Choose on-site service at your facility, weekday pickup and delivery across the Bay Area, mail-in to our Union City lab, or weekend service (Friday afternoon pickup, Monday morning return). Standard repair turnaround is 2 days after we receive the parts. Rush service is available with a 2-day turnaround. Loaner pipettes are available.

Repair or Replace?

Most pipette problems are fixed by new seals, O-rings, cleaning, and lubrication, at a small fraction of the cost of a new pipette. Repair usually makes sense when the body, piston, and adjustment mechanism are sound and parts are still available. Replacement may be the better choice when a pipette has a cracked body or bent shaft, needs repeated major repairs, or is discontinued and has no replacement parts. We'll give you an honest recommendation and a quote before any work starts, so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
